21st of February was payday and I got to setup my budget for March – yeah, I’m excited to budget.
I use a couple of things:
- Happy planner
- Erasable pen
- Debt PayOff Planner – app
The steps I take to setup my budget
- List my expenses
- List my sinking funds & jars
- List my debt(s)
List my expenses
I always start by listing my expenses of the month before. So I checked all my expenses in February. The expenses and amount haven’t changed.
Among my personal expenses I still paid for a lottery. Today I called to cancel my subscriptions. After saying “No” 7 times it was finally cancelled.
List my sinking funds & jars
I start by listing my sinking funds of the month before. Then I checked if I need to use it in March – I don’t. And then I list my jars of the month before. I didn’t have to change anything.
List my debt(s)
I still have one debt, my student loan. It’s just under €6.600,-. I use the app Debt Payoff Planner to keep my debt payments up to date. But I pay my debt almost at the end of the month. So I only plan it.
Dividing my paycheck
I sent the sum of the sinking funds and jars to my Moneyou account. Then I seperated the money over all the acounts I have in Moneyou GO. I love seeing the amounts grow and knowing I’m closer to my goals.
