Every month I review my monthly budget. Today I’m doing my monthly budget review for February. I like to check every month if there is something I need to change for the upcoming months.
I started by reviewing my personal expenses
My budget was initially €1.032,73 for my personal expenses. At the end of the month my actual expenses were €1.033,41.
There was a difference of €0,68 in my budget.
- my gym membership is normally €20,98. But it was €21,66 this month without warning.
While setting up my budget for March I reviewed my budget of February. An action I took was ending my lottery subscription. By ending this subscription I will save €28,- a month and €336,- a year.
I don’t use my gym membership at all. My brother used to go with my card but even he doesn’t use it. So I will terminate my membership and save €20,98 per month which is €251,76 per year.
Then I review my sinking funds & jars
I realized that I used more from my Birthday jar than I budgeted. This is because I bought cake for my family at home and co-workers at work which I hadn’t budgeted. I only budgeted buying gifts for others. I will change this for next year.
Next I lowered the amount I put in my Personal Care jar. I still had money left from last month and I am not expecting to use a big amount for March.
Last, but not least I review my debt(s)
I paid an extra amount this month and I am still on track to becoming debt free this year. The budgeted amount is going to stay the same for now. I will check it again next month in my monthly budget review.
