My second book of the year is the book “The Barefoot Investor” by Scott Pape. It was suggested by the Instagram account @dfcbookclub to read in February. In this post I will share my thoughts about this book.
What was the book about?
Scott Pape runs you through the steps to becoming financially free. He tells the reader how he became the Barefoot Investor, how he became financially free and how he rebuild his life after a fire burned down his family home.
The steps to becoming financially free
- Schedule a monthly Barefoot Date Night
- Set up your buckets
- Domino your debt(s)
- Buy your home
- Increase your super to 15 per cent
- Boost your Mojo to three months
- Get the banker off your back
- Nail your retirement number
- Leave a legacy
What I have learnt
Setting up bank accounts to be able to pay the minimal amount for your account but receiving the most out of your saving account.
My thoughts
I liked reading this book, because of the step-by-step instructions about how to setup your finances. I did realize that I don’t know a lot about Australia (What is a super?). So at some points I was lost, but if you’re interested you can research all these points for your own country.
